Erasure - Other People's Songs

The album was originally conceived as a solo project for singer Andy Bell. Once Vince Clarke, the other member of Erasure, became involved, it was released as Erasure's tenth studio album. The tracks were handpicked by Clarke and Bell as ones that influenced them as musicians. It was released in the UK and the U.S. by Mute Records in 2003.

Other People's Songs
gave Erasure their first top ten on the UK singles chart in nine years. The album was produced by Erasure with Gareth Jones and Dave Bascombe. Because of Bell's resistance to remaking the classic "Video Killed the Radio Star", the verses are "sung" synthetically by a computer.

Yazoo - Upstairs At Eric's

There was a time when you couldn't step into a dance club without hearing at least part of this recording booming over the sound system. The often over-played hit, "Situation," was a bubbling caldron of nasally synth noodlings, a whopping bass line, and drum machine wallops. Alison Moyet's looped laugh in the middle of the song ended up as a sample, over-used a thousand times over. Yaz was an interesting blend of Moyet's smoky blues and jazz tinged vocals with Vince Clarke's digital disco. Moyet's voice alone was instrument enough, and the melodies here perfectly showcased her incredible range. Upstairs easily moved between energetic dance floor exuberance ("Don't Go" and "Good-bye Seventies"), blues-inspired wailers ("Midnight"), and icy electronic minimalism ("Winter Kills"). It was an explosion of a debut, touching upon '80s gay disco, synth pop, and diva-ism in one fell swoop. The CD closes with the overlooked "Didn't I Bring Your Love Down," an infectious barn burner with a call/response break that blows the roof off of Eric's little techno-pop room.

The song was released as the second single from the band's third studio album Day & Age on November 4, 2008, as a digital download on iTunes, and as 7" and promo CD in the US, Canada and UK. It has been released to radio in Australia and has gone into regular rotation on Triple J. This song was number 17 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Best Songs of 2008. The song has been used regularly as the opening song during the band's tour.

Röyksopp's great record "Junior"

One of the most celebrated & innovative artists in the elctronic genre, Norway's Royksopp return with the highly anticipated follow-up to their classic deubt Melody AM (an album named one of the best albums of 2001 by Rolling Stone, GQ, Entertainment Weekly, Jockey Slut and more) and The Understanding, which combined lush atmospherics with enthralling pop.

JUNIOR is Royksopp's most accomplished release yet, an inspired and ambitious musical confection fusing pure pop hooks with "technoperatic" dancefloor slammers. Featuring a team of top female vocalists/collaborators including Swedish superstar Robyn, Lykke Li, Karim Dreijer (The Knife) as well as fellow Norwegian Annell Drecker (who appeared on Royksopp's debut Melody A.M.).
