Sandie Shaw - Me

Sandie Shaw started singing songs mostly written by Burt Bacharach in 1964, which gave her 2 UK #1 hits and 4 more UK top 10 hits before 1967.

In the year 1967 Sandie participated in the Eurovision Song Contest with the Chris Andrews written song “Puppet on a String”. She won the contest, which made the song her biggest European success up till then, reaching into the top 10 in most European countries.

After this succes she continued working with Chris Andrews during the 60s, though in the 70s nothing was heard of her.

Nobody could predict the way her comeback would be initiated: no other than singer Morrissey pronounced himself a fan of Sandie. Not only made this a complete new group of people interested in her, it also resulted in another UK hitsingle with a coverversion of the The Smiths single “Hand in Glove / I Don’t Owe You Anything” and an album which had some Morrissey-written songs.
